Topic: "Triumph of the Human Spirit"

In these challenging times we need to stay motivated to overcome the obstacles in our path. Who better than Stephani Victor, who overcame a horrific accident to succeed as a film maker and alpine skier, to remind us that our spirit and determination will help us triumph? In 1995, while loading her car, an out-of-control vehicle veered into her driveway and pinned her against her car. In an effort to save her life, doctors amputated both her legs above the knee. Stephani’s strong will to live caused her determination to overcome this catastrophe. During her stay in intensive care she also dreamed about making a documentary about her recovery.

In 1999, Stephani tried alpine skiing for the first time since her accident. By 2006, her skiing career rose to a dramatic climax at the Paralympic Games in Torino, Italy where she came back after a horrific crash in the Downhill to win the much sought after Gold medal in the Slalom. She finally had the ending to her documentary film. Her season ended with another outstanding victory when she won her second Overall World Cup title in Slalom.
